5 best design hotels in Amsterdam

You don’t mind spending a little bit of extra cash to not only enjoy the outside of pretty Amsterdam, but also the inside of one of the gorgeous design hotels? If you are more of a flashpacker than a backpacker this list of hotels is for you. And if you are a sucker for pretty furniture like I am you will definitely appreciate these hotels!

Morgan & Mees – Westerpark area

I already wrote a review of the Morgan & Mees restaurant . And I was thinking the beautiful design of the restaurant can only be a good trailer for the actual hotel rooms. And oh yes it is! Look at that beautiful mat black shower head and those rustic brown beams above the bed. And when you finally decide to leave your dream of a hotel room you have the cozy Hugo de Grootplein full of nice restaurants behind you and the always busy Jordaan area on the other end. Local, but central at the same time, just the way Amsterdam Local Guide likes it.

Hotel Not Hotel – the Baarsjes

At this hotel you can sleep in your own tram trolley! That is probably enough to make you want to book a stay here, but there is more. They have secret rooms hidden behind bookcases and their hotel bar is called Kevin Bacon. And still that is actually not the best thing about this hotel. The best thing about Hotel Not Hotel is that it has affordable prices and is on the border of my two favorite neighborhoods: the Baarsjes and Amsterdam old west.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam – NDSM Warf – Amsterdam North NDSM

Waking up with a view of the skyline of Amsterdam? The small but pretty rooms of the DoubleTree in Amsterdam north have floor to wall windows that offer you spectacular views of the river and the hip industrial enviorment of the NDSM warf. While your staying here you can tick of visiting the IJhallen fleamarket of your Amsterdam bucket list.

Hotel de Hallen – Amsterdam old west

Another hotel that you can book to make ticking of the Amsterdam bucket list a little bit easier. Hotel de Hallen is in the same complex as the Foodhallen. So you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner there in order to have something at each stall before you have to leave the city again. Actually, this complex has everything for a great vacation: a movie theater, hip shops like the local goods store that sell local Amsterdam things, a library, a hair salon and the restaurants Halte 3, Meatwest and Remise47!

Conservatorium hotel – Amsterdam old south

Last but certainly not least, we go out with a bang with this luxurious 5-star hotel. I want to live in the lobby of the Conservatorium hotel, look at all those beautiful couches everywhere. Their cheapest room is more than 400 euros, but you can always dream right? Or at least have a coffee in the lobby.
